Iva Aspell Kelly, 96 of West Hartford and formerly of Newington, passed away on Monday, October 12, 2015, at St. Mary’s Home in West Hartford. Born on June 5, 1919, in Waterbury, Iva was the daughter of the late Patrick John and Elizabeth (Prall) Aspell and the wife of the late Attorney Frank A. Kelly, Jr. Iva was a graduate of Hall High School and prior to her retirement, she worked as a Paralegal for Phoenix Mutual. She was a communicant of St. Mary’s Church in Newington where she taught their bible study group. She was a docent at the Wadsworth Athenaeum. She is survived by her nephews, Mark Sullivan and his wife Donna of Meriden, Robert Sullivan and his wife Barbara of Sewell, NJ, James Aspell and his wife Ellen of West Hartford, a sister-in-law, Mary E. Kelly, of West Hartford, and many grandnieces and grandnephews. She was predeceased by her two siblings, William Aspell and Mary Aspell Sullivan. Iva’s family would like to thank the nurses and staff on 2 East at St. Mary’s Home and the staff at the Masonic Care Hospice.
