Isabel E. Brinkman of Beckemeyer, IL died Tuesday, June 21, 2011 at her residence at the age of 92 years. She was born in Clement Township/Clinton County, IL. On December 26, 1918 the daughter of Aloysius and Emma Louise (Nettles) Nothaus. She married Lavern B. Taphorn at St. Mary Church in Carlyle on April 17, 1937, and he died September 5, 1964. She later married William H. Brinkman on August 4, 1977 at St. Mary Church in Carlyle and he preceded her in death on January 14, 1990.
Isabel is survived by a son: William “Bill” Taphorn and special friend Agnes Koehler of Carlyle; two sisters: Verena Nothaus and Mary Davis both of Carlyle; two granddaughters: Julie Wessel and husband Brian of Carlyle and Kathy Owens and husband Mark of Centralia; three great grandchildren: Krissi Pfister and special friend Mark Ortiz, Matthew Owens and wife Jennifer and Kaitlyn Owens; and two great great grandchildren: Brendan Pfister and Marlee Ortiz.
Mrs. Brinkman was preceded in death by her parents; husbands; a sister: Gertrude Dalhaus; and a brother: Herbert Nothaus.
Isabel retired from the Wee Walker Shoe Company in Carlyle after 27 years of service, and later enjoyed her life as a homemaker. She was a member of St. Anthony Church in Beckemeyer. For many years she had served as a volunteer St. Joseph’s Hospital in Breese.
