Isaac Kingbird, Sr., “Gizhe Manido” meaning “Great Spirit”, age 84, of Ponemah, Minnesota began his spiritual journey on Monday, November 27th, 2017 at the Grand Itasca Hospital in Grand Rapids, MN. He was born on September 9, 1933 to Charles and Norma (Sullivan) Kingbird.
He enjoyed going to powwows, fishing, going to the casino and visiting friends. Isaac began working at the AIS in Minneapolis, MN, starting as a custodian and worked his way to being House Manager. He also worked in Forestry in Red Lake, MN. Many of the other things he did; carpenter, commercial fisherman and bus driver at the Heart of the Earth. He was a very proud and loving man. He will be missed by us all.
Isaac is welcomed home by his wife; Ona Kingbird, parents; Charles and Norma Kingbird, brothers; Emerson Kingbird, Wallace Kingbird, Sr., Melvin Kingbird, Sr. and Duane Kingbird, sisters; Dora Kingbird, Marlene French, Catherine Kingbird and Gladys Kingbird, who are all in the spirit world.
He is survived by his sons, Isaac Kingbird, Jr., (Cheryl Secola) of Minneapolis, Douglas Kingbird (Naomi Kingbird) of Red Lake, Jeffrey Kingbird (Cheryl Holthusen) and Randy Kingbird (Tara Kingbird) both of Ponemah, daughters; Bonnie and Melodie Kingbird both of Ponemah and Brenda Kingbird (Larry DeMarr) of Remer, brother; Mryon Kingbird of Ponemah, numerous grandchildren, great grandchildren, nephews and nieces.
