Ironelis Yoselin Rhodes (nee Landa Perez) died suddenly at home in Rockville MD Friday January 9, 2015 after an extended illness. Ironelis was born June 23, 1965 in San Juan de La Maguana, Dominican Republic. She was the daughter of the late Abigail Landa and Felicia Perez vda Landa, sister of the late Hector Landa and the late Maria Victoria Landa. Ironelis grew up in San Juan de La Maguana and attended high school there as well as a year of teacher’s college.
In 1984 she married her husband Andrew Rhodes in San Juan and their first daughter Alice was born in Santiago, Dominican Republic. They moved to Kittery, ME shortly afterward and their 2nd daughter Megan was born in Portsmouth NH. Always very determined to improve herself and her family Iro worked various jobs in the area and in Maryland after the family relocated. She found her career in the mortgage industry, starting in customer service and working as a processor, underwriter, and loan officer. After a series of surgeries she became increasingly ill and was unable to continue working.
Her passing was a great shock to all who knew her as her health was improving. She was survived by her mother Felicia Perez vda Landa, her husband Andrew Rhodes, daughters Alice M. Rhodes Carback and husband Richard Carback of Everett MA, Megan J. Rhodes of Philadelphia PA, brothers Manuel, Simon, Cesar of Hyattsville MD, sisters Maria, Celeste, Sonia, Marianela, Amarilis of Lynn MA, Nelsys and grand-daughter Charlotte M. Carback.
