Troy – Irma I. Torres, 68, of Eighth Street Troy died Saturday, May 01, 2010, at Albany Medical Center Hospital after a long illness.
Born in Puerto Rico, she was daughter of the late Candito Torres and Conupion Perez-Ayala. She was raised in Puerto Rico until she moved New York City and later Troy where she has lived for the past 15 years.
She completed her last year of high school at Washington Irving High School in New York City and earned a Associates Degree from the Manhattan Dental Associates and was employed as a dental assistant in NYC for many years.
She enjoyed sewing everything from curtains to bedspreads and suits for her family and loved spending time in casinos.
She is survived by her 2 children Eileen (John) Diaz and Jose (Kelli) Rivera, both of Troy; 6 grandchildren, Nelson Lopez, Justin Rivera, John Michael and Desiree Diaz, Dallas and Dominic Rogalo, 4 siblings, Lydia Perez, Jose Perez, Ernie Torres, Candito Torres Jr. She was predeceased by her common law husband Pedro Ferrer and her brother Christopher Perez.
