Irma Barbieri Murach Kish, 93, of Townsend Ave., New Haven, was called to heaven April 9, 2009 after a short illness. Born in Hardwick, VT. July 27, 1915, she was the daughter of the late Carmine and Rose DeMeola Barbieri. She lived in West Haven for several years, working in her mother’s restaurant in Old Savin Rock; at the Wire Rope Corp. during World War II, and later at George & Harry’s Restaurant in New Haven. She was a professional seamstress and worked for Sunbeam Dress Shop and Mode Mfg. During the 1950’s, she played the mandolin with a New Haven orchestral group. Irma was a member of East Shore Senior Center as well as Jolly Time Seniors and enjoyed her many friends, participating in line dancing, card playing, trips and socials. She is survived by two beloved daughters, Joan Murach Funaro of East Haven and Gail Murach Bontatibus of Surprise, AZ.; a grandson, Kenneth J. Bontatibus; and her much loved son in law, John Funaro of East Haven; and several nieces & nephews. She was predeceased by two brothers, Anthony & Joseph Barbieri and two sisters, Alba Trotta and Molly Barbieri.
