Irene Walczak, age 93, of DeMotte passed away Sunday, January 29, 2017 in Lafayette, Indiana. Irene was born in Chicago, Illinois on August 29, 1923 the daughter of John and Lottie Smolinski. After high school, Irene married the love of her life, Edward Walczak, on July 28, 1950 in Chicago.
He preceded her in death on December 16, 2003. Irene was a homemaker and mother to three children. She was a member of St. Augusta Catholic Church of Lake Village. She loved being a mother and grandmother. Irene is survived by her children: Carol Mendiola of Schererville, IN; Alan Walczak of DeMotte, IN; David Walczak of DeMotte, IN; grandchildren: Melissa, Alan, Page (Joe), and John III (Daisy); great grandson, Angel; and special friend, Jodie.
Irene was preceded in death by: her parents, husband, 2 brothers, and a sister.
