Irene Nordskog, 71, of Rumson, NJ, passed away on March 4, 2022 at Riverview Medical Center with family by her side. She was born on February 28, 1951 in Brooklyn, NY to the late Steffen and Marie (nee: Sveen) Nordskog.
Irene graduated from Fort Hamilton High School in 1967, Hunter College in 1971 with a major in history and Monmouth University in 1993 with an MA in Education. Irene worked in various publishing and printing companies early in her career before becoming a full time homemaker and a stay-at-home mom. When her daughters became older, she returned to work in the foreign language department at Monmouth University and held various other positions until she retired as an Executive Assistant to the CEO of the HealthSouth Rehabilitation Hospital of Tinton Falls, NJ.
Irene was an avid reader and was never without a book and several books as back-ups. She was an aggressive walker, logging 2 miles each morning at dawn, and enjoyed hikes in local parks with family and friends. Irene was a devoted Sunday School teacher and loved working with children.
Irene is preceded in death by her parents. Surviving Irene is her loving husband of 44 years, Frank Munn, and her daughters Katherine Nordskog Dormandy and her husband Michael of Innsbruck, Austria, and Ellen Nordskog McDow of Gilbert, AZ. Also surviving Irene are her sisters, Liv Wilson and her husband Dave of Holmdel, NJ and Sissel Bohman of Middletown, NJ.
