Irene Louise Stewart May 24, 1921 – December 9, 2010 Irene Louise Stewart, 89, residing in South Bend, formerly of Anderson, passed away early Thursday morning, December 9, 2010 at The Sanctuary at St. Joseph in South Bend.
She was born May 24, 1921 in Anderson, a daughter of Fred Q. & Cleo Grace Mills Stroud, and lived in Anderson and Muncie most of her life. She lived in Elkhart, IN for 20 years, and has lived in South Bend since 2003. On October 24, 1936 in Muncie, Irene was united in marriage to Daniel Stewart. He passed away on January 27, 1984.
She was also preceded in death by three brothers, Quincy Keith, Clarence “Bud”, and Robert Stroud, and five sisters, Betty June Stroud, Montana Joy Stroud, Daisey Eileen Alberts, Pansey Pritchard, and Mildred Gustin. Mrs. Stewart worked for several years as Supervisor of Housekeeping at the Holiday Inn in Anderson. Most importantly, she was a loving wife and homemaker.
She is survived by a step-son, James Stewart of Indianapolis, seven sisters, Cleo “Kitty”Bradberry of South Bend, Violet G. Rittenhouse of KY, Shirley J. Flores of Chino, CA, Wanda Sauls of W. Palm Beach, FL, Corina Kay Liles of Rogers, AK, Peggy Moore of Pine Bluff, MO, and Mary E. Swartz of Walkerton, IN, and one brother, Daniel Q. Stroud of Wabash, IN.
