Irene D. Galayda, 92, passed away at Robert Wood Johnson Hospital, New Brunswick on January 11, 2022, after a brief illness surrounded by her family.
Irene grew up in Highland Park and was a graduate of Highland Park High School. She also lived in East Brunswick and Spotswood and returned to Highland Park in 2018. She worked as an Administrative Secretary for Rutgers University in New Brunswick for many years and retired several years ago.
Mrs. Galayda loved to cook and was the doting grandparent to her grandchildren. They are the apple of her eye.
She was predeceased by her husband Stephen (2008) and two children, Gary and Karen. She was also predeceased by her brother Steve “Butch.”
Irene is survived by her sons: James and his wife Nancy of Highland Park, and Stephen and his wife Patricia of Rochester, NY. The love of her life was the grandchildren: James, Kristen, Christopher and his wife, Jamie, Samatha and her husband Anthony, Melissa and Robyn. There are several great-grandchildren. Irene also loved her family dogs, Nicky and Charlie.
