Irene Loretta (Pfauth) Miller, 85, of New Troy, Michigan passed away peacefully Friday afternoon, March 20, 2015 at Hanson Hospice Center surrounded by her family.Irene was born at home in Sawyer on August 19, 1929 to Henry and Barbara (Shafer) Pfauth. She married Zane Miller on November 28, 1959 in Sawyer. Irene was an LPN at Buchanan Hospital and later retired from Jordon’s Nursing Home were she spent many years caring for others.
She was a member of St. Agnes Catholic Church in Sawyer. Family was very important to her and she was extremely proud of her nine children and many grandchildren. She enjoyed growing and taking care of her flower garden, sewing, crocheting, playing the piano, and reading. Irene especially loved traveling and seeing the countryside with Zane. They traveled many miles up and down the back country roads together. She was a wonderful role model, was loved deeply, and will be missed forever.
Survivors include her loving husband of 55 years, Zane; their nine children, Christopher (Joy) Miller of New Troy; Ellen (Michael) Seidler of St. Joseph; Elaine (Lon) Edgecomb of Bridgman; Amy Miller of St. Joseph; Kathy (Jim) Poschke of Bridgman; Jennifer Lynn Lockman of Galien, Carol (Kirk) Rasmussen of Fennville, Mary Miller of Buchanan, and Paul Miller (Sandi Bowman) of Buchanan; her 21 grandchildren, Rick, Emily, Katherine and Joseph Seidler; Jacob and Sarah Edgecomb; Allison and Adam Poschke; Henry, Grace and Amelia Lockman; Seth, Barbara, Jared, Helen, Vivian, Noah, Claudia, and Valerie Rasmussen, Carolyn and Patrick Lavery; her sister, Joan (Jim) Kasper, many nieces and nephews.She was preceded in death by her sister Hildegarde “Deeda” Pfauth and brother Henry Pfauth.
