Irene Kirk, 90, a 64 year resident of Glen Burnie, passed away on February 17, 2015. She was born in Edgarton, WV on June 27, 1924 to the late Gypsie and Thomas Goble, and grew up in Inez, KY. She attended business school, Towson Teachers College, took the Civil Service Exam and went on to work at the Pentagon during WWII. Irene was employed as an Executive Secretary for Senator Lipin and belonged to the Fort Severn Chapter of the Daughters of the American Revolution, the Southern Seafarers (traveling group) and she was a Girl Scout Leader. She enjoyed crafting, shopping, reading, cooking, playing cards (especially pinochle and bridge), traveling, but most of all, dancing with her lifelong partner, her husband, Chester. In addition to her parents, she was predeceased by her devoted husband of 56 years, Chester A. Kirk, Sr, her son, Chester A. Kirk, Jr, and her siblings, Homer, Elmer Goble and Lucille Hardin.
Irene is survived by her beloved daughter, Carole (Michael) Schlegel; her five cherished grandchildren, Christopher (Ronda) Kirk, Laura (Eric) Power, Timothy (Patrice) Kirk, Amy (David) Brunner, and Jennifer (Paul Falkler) Schlegel; seven loving great-grandchildren; and her dear sisters, Delilah Penix and Lundy Ellen Gutheil.
