Irene Grace Scheuerer, 87, passed away peacefully on March 8, 2018. Irene was born January 17, 1931 to William and Edna Colson in White City, Kansas. Irene was the youngest of six kids. The family moved to Eagle, Idaho in January 1942. The family drove and had their belongings shipped on the train.
Irene attended school in Eagle graduating from Eagle High School May 17, 1950. While attending high school, she worked at Orville Jackson’s serving shakes and sodas.
Irene married Joseph Scheuerer May 27, 1950 in her parent’s back yard. They were married over 42 years when Joe passed in 1993. Irene’s sister, Eileen made her wedding dress which is still in the family.
Joe and Irene moved to a small home in Nampa for approximately a year prior to moving out in what was then the country on an acreage until 1999 when Irene moved back into town. In December 2016 she moved to Garnet Place Assisted Living Facility in Garden City.
Irene was a homemaker when their children were young. She then worked several years for the Music Box in downtown Nampa. Later she worked at the trailer factory as the tough little lead lady in the final finish department. She was a stickler for details and doing things right.
Irene was a member of the Eagles Lodge, Glad Society and was for many years involved in the Owyhee Gem and Mineral Society taking the family on rock hunting trips and the yearly rock show.
Joe and Irene had a large garden for many years growing a variety of vegetables.

The family would like to give a special thank you to the fabulous staff a Garnet Place Assisted Living. Also to First Choice Hospice staff, Jackie and Jenn, who spent hours to make sure Mom was comfortable and her pain was controlled before leaving every day. Thank you to Dr. Kevin Clifford and the wonderful help from Laura and Helen who spent evenings sitting with Mom.
