Winsted: Irene E. Sullivan, 81, passed away on Friday, September 10, 2010 at her home on Holabird Ave. following a lengthy illness. She was the wife of the late Edward A. Sullivan who died in 1988. Born in Torrington, November 1, 1928, she was the daughter of the late Edward and Eva (Roy) Gendreau. Prior to her retirement, she was instrumental in running her families businesses, Winsted Yellow Cab and Ed Sullivan and Sons, “the Maytag Store” and retiring as a Resident Manager of the Winted Group Home in 2007. Irene was proud to be a body donor for the UConn Medical Center. Her survivors include three children, Kathleen Elliott and her husband James of Littleton, CO, Edward Sullivan of Denver, CO, Jerry Sullivan and his wife Cathy of Winsted; two brothers, Roy Gendreau and his wife Helen of Farmington, and Henry Gendreau and his wife Mary of Winsted; one sister, Elizabeth (Betty) Jones of West Hartford; five grandchildren, Corey Smith, Joshua, Jacob and Ryan Elliott and Kevin Sullivan; several great grandchildren and many nieces and nephews.
