On Thursday, June 23, 2016, Irene was reunited in Heaven with her loving husband, Edward, her son Edward Charles, her sister Ann “Dolly” Denby and her best friend and sister in law, Hazel Rekeda.
Surviving Irene are her daughters Linda Dam of Jackson, NJ, Deborah Edwards of Toms River, sisters Constance Penrod and husband JC of Bradenton, FL, Rose Wolf of North Jersey, Madeline Torsiello of Glen Gardener, NJ, and daughter in law Arlene Dam. Irene was born June 26, 1925 in Union, NJ but lived in East Brunswick while raising her family. Irene was the President of the PTA for Warnsdorfer School and Assistant Troop Leader for her daughters Girl Scout Troop.
She is a former Bamberger’s (now Macy’s) employee and also worked for Fleischmann’s in Dayton, NJ until finally fulfilling her dream of caring for others and became a certified Home Health Care Provider. After retiring, she moved to the Holiday City section of Berkeley Twp. where she enjoyed many activities including playing Mahjong, going on her “Red Hart” adventures, playing on a championship Bocce Ball team, as well as taking many trips and cruises. Irene will be sadly missed by all that knew and loved her.
