Following a brief illness, Irene Downey of Monmouth Beach NJ passed away on November 13, 2016. Irene was born in Mauch Chunk, PA and grew up in Bayonne and then Westfield, New Jersey.
Irene earned a BA in Philosophy from Monmouth University and was a parishioner at The Church of The Precious Blood in Monmouth Beach. In addition to her devotion to her family Irene was passionate about restoring the charm to her beloved circa 1871 Victorian home.
Irene was the loving mother of William (Bud) Downey of Monmouth Beach and Susan Smith of Narragansett RI. Irene was predeceased by her daughters Dale Brown of Austin TX, and Diane Genovese of Middletown NJ. Irene is survived by nine grandchildren and five great grandchildren.
