Ira “Skip” Francis Schlotterback, 86, of Albion, passed away on Saturday, April 9, 2022, at Parkview Whitley Hospital.
He was born on April 27, 1935, in Green Township, to the late Ira S. & Helen (Gay) Schlotterback. He spent his formative years in Noble County and graduated from Wolf Lake High School in 1953. Skip was married to Martha Lung in Albion, on June 12, 1954. She preceded him in death on July 11, 2016, after 62 years of marriage. He was later married to Shirley Hile on April 19, 2020.
Skip retired from International Harvester after 23 years of service. He also sold real-estate, drove a school bus, worked at the Chain O’ Lakes State Park, and was a Gentleman Farmer. He served as the Noble Township Trustee for several years. Skip enjoyed hunting, fishing, gardening, and his chickens. He was also a Gideon and a member of Merriam Christian Chapel Church.
He is survived by his wife, Shirley Hile; three sons, Terry (Cary) Schlotterback, Jeffrey (Kim) Schlotterback, and Timothy (Marci) Schlotterback; three stepchildren, Scott (Lan) Hile, Fran (Max) Lortie, and Joe (Karen) Hile; three sisters, Joan Lawson-Weber, Linda (Jim) Norris, and Sandra (Dick) Goldner; a brother, Terry (Mary) Schlotterback; four grandchildren, 11 step-grandchildren, nine great-grandchildren, and six step-great-grandchildren.
In addition to his parents and his first wife, he was preceded in death by two sisters, Luella Kissinger and Cholene Anderson; three brothers, Tom, Rodger, and Kent Schlotterback; a stepson, Jeffrey Hile.
