Iona was born July 23, 1941 to Roy and Lola Smith in Nampa, Idaho, where she grew up. She married Norman Nowland on November 1st, 1958. For over thirty years she was a dedicated employee of Lasher’s Nursing Home. Iona enjoyed camping with her family, playing bingo, and watching sports. She also loved playing card games. Iona was a valued member of the Eagles in Nampa, as well.
Iona is survived by her beloved family; daughter, Tammy Nowland, and son, Bill (Mary) Nowland, of Boise, ID; son, Terry (Tracy) Nowland, of Vine Grove, KY; son, Keith (Susan) Nowland, of Franktown, CO; son, Kent (Sonya) Nowland, of Twin Falls, ID; 17 grandchildren; 20 great grandchildren; and brother, Nyle Smith, of Cascade, ID.
Iona was preceded in death by her parents, Roy and Lola Smith; her dear husband, Norman R. Nowland; son, Raymond L. Nowland; sister, Martha Wilson; brother, Kenneth Smith; and sister, Connie Stone.
