Iona Hawkes Scothern
1930-2022
Iona Hawkes Scothern, 92, passed away on October 27, 2022. She was born on February 10, 1930 in Brigham City, Utah to Mirle Marinner and Estella Pulsipher Hawkes. She graduated from Box Elder High School in 1948. She married Clinton Young Scothern on August 9, 1948 in the Logan Temple.
Iona had a special place in her heart for children and enjoyed her time as Primary chorister and Primary president. She also loved the relationships she made while serving as Relief Society president, but her favorite place to serve was at home.
She was an amazing cook, a beautiful seamstress, a talented cake decorator and a gifted gardener. Mom also loved going on golf trips with Dad and her brothers. She was a completely dedicated wife, mom, and grandma.
Iona is survived by her children, Nancy (Kent) Bates, Christine (Gervin) Victor, Clinton Reed (Darlene) Scothern, Linda (Jerry) Gubler, and Clark Dee (Rachele) Scothern; 8 grandchildren, 18 great grandchildren; and brother, Lee Hawkes.
We’re comforted thinking of her happy reunion with Dad and other loved ones who preceded her in death.
