Ingrid Winne Clever, 88, of West Lafayette, died Sunday, October 17th at Westminster Village.
Born in Danzig, Germany on May 3, 1933, she was the daughter of Edith and Friedrich Winne. She earned a degree in biomedical technology from the University of Gottingen in 1955.
She married Ulrich Clever in March of 1958. The couple moved to West Lafayette with their daughter Dagmar and son Bertolt in 1964.
Mrs. Clever was a medical technician and watercolor artist. She was a loving mother and grandmother who raised her children independently after her husband’s death in 1973. Mrs. Clever was active in the community, teaching yoga and Tai Chi at the Montessori School, English as a second language at the Lafayette YWCA, and establishing a German conversation group at the International Center. She met her longtime partner John Carlson at the Unitarian Universalist Church and they enjoyed many years of travel and companionship.
She was preceded in death by her husband, children, and partner. She is survived by her three grandchildren, Aubryn, Tavia, and Kyle, as well as two great grandchildren.
