Inge (Erbe) Insani died peacefully after a long illness in her home in Alexandria. Inge was filled with love and service as an Army Wife with friends and pen pals around the globe.

Growing up in Breslau Germany, she became a star athlete. As such she communicated with athletic pen pals around the globe, learned the Morse Code and just prior to the end of WWII was enrolled in an all female communications team supporting a German HQ in what was known as the Eastern Front. Retreating back into Germany, the group, later surrendered to a US Army unit in Wergenreden Germany. Inge then spent the next seven months as a POW in a US POW Camp in Chartres France and at the end of WWII was returned to Germany for discharge .   

Not able to return to her home in Breslau, she then worked for the German Red Cross in Marburg assisting families on both sides of the Wall which divided Germany. It was then that she met her future husband and later became one of the first War Brides in Germany.

Inge married and supported then Lieutenant, now retired Colonel, John L Insani a combat veteran of WWII, Korea and Vietnam for the next 35 years as a dedicated volunteer in numerous civic and religious pursuits on Army Bases, all the while raising two sons and three daughters which included 22 family moves. Inge is survived by her loving husband of 79 years, John L, Sons- Peter J. of Potomac, MD; John D. of Nashville, TN; Daughters- Ingrid Woodward of Chino Hills, CA; Susan Klipfel of Woodbridge, VA and Maureen Insani of Alexandria, seven grandchildren and six great grandchildren.
