Dr. Ignatius “Joe” Vetter, age 85 of Norwalk, beloved husband of Eileen Q. Vetter, passed away Friday, November 12, 2010 at Norwalk Hospital with his family by his side. Born in the Bronx, NY, he was the son of the late Ignatius J. and Adele Vetter. Dr. Vetter was a member of The Catholic Club and The Silvermine Golf Club. He served as Chief of Staff of the Norwalk Hospital and was on the Board of Trustees of the Norwalk Hospital. He also served on the Board of Directors of The Honey Hill Nursing Home, the Fairfield County Medical Association, and numerous other community boards and associations. Dr. Vetter was a lieutenant in the United States Navy and served during the Korean War.
In addition to his wife Eileen, he is survived by a son, Attorney Thomas J Vetter and wife Grace of Norwalk, a daughter Kathy Vetter of Colorado, and 3 grandchildren, Gregory, Raymond, and Benedict Vetter. Dr. Vetter was pre-deceased by a sister, Adele Heinzen.
