IDO ALFRED BONS

Ido grew up in Indonesia and during World War II he was a prisoner of war of the Japanese. After the war he traveled to Holland to finish his schooling at the Aeronautical Technical School in the The Hague, Netherlands. His training was in Mechanical Engineering. He arrived in the United States in 1956, with his wife Johanna, and became a U.S. Citizen in 1962. He lived in the United States for 62 years and spent the last 23 years living in Azusa. He worked in the Aerospace industry, having worked for Boeing, Rohr Industries, General Precision Inc. and Nye Products, from 1956 – 1992. In 1992, he retired from Alcoa Composites Inc in Monrovia, having worked for them for 28 years. He worked as a Tool Design Engineer and was a Tool Design Supervisor, designing machine, assembly, bonding fixtures and die designs and later learned N/C programming and CAD/ CAM design to carry out his job. He has a patent in his name for designing a device to move airplane wings. He enjoyed working with his hands, being a “Master Do It Yourselfer” and doing woodworking projects in the garage. The rest of his time was spent working on his stamp collection and going to the Casino.
Ido passed away at the age of 88 years, after being in declining health, at home.
His entire family will miss him a great deal.
