Mrs. Ida Pemberton Covington, 90, of 728 Montlieu Ave., died on Friday, November 29, 2013 at her residence following an extended illness. “I have finished the work which thou gave me to do.” John 17:4

Ida was born on May 4, 1923 to the late Della and Tobias Pemberton in Mt. Gilead, NC; one of nine children. She graduated from Peabody Academy in Troy. Mrs. Covington spent most of her adult life in High Point and was a faithful member of Williams Memorial CME Church and retired from Davis Furniture Company.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, James Covington; son, Tommy Covington; grandchild, Ella Maurine; five sisters and one brother.

Survivors left to cherish memories include sons, Charles Covington of the home, Michael (Tiffany) Covington of Aurora, IL; daughters, Barbara Covington-Jones of Charlotte, Carmen Covington-Davis (Larry), and Iris Covington-Gray (Benson) of High Point; grandchildren, Tatum Covington Jones, Jada Rush (Earl), Benson Gray, Thelia Davis and Kamron Gray; one great grandchild, Naomi Gray; two sisters, Elma Thompson of New York and Sallie Wall of Candor; two brothers-in-law, John Harp and Hosey Lindsey; numerous nieces, nephews, cousins and her best friend forever, Willie Lois LeGrande.
