Troy – Ida M. Carlson Blair, 84, of North Lake Avenue died Friday, June 1, 2018, at Samaritan Hospital after a  long illness.

Born in Brooklyn, NY, she was daughter of the late Ernest R. Carlson and Borghild Johanson Carlson and wife for 63 years of Arthur J. Blair. She had resided in Troy most of her life and summered for 17 years at Cossayuna Lake and was a graduate of Andrew S. Draper High School in Schenevus, NY and Albany Business College. 

Ida was a bookkeeper for several years, working at Travelers Insurance, HJ Heinz, House of Montague, the Watervliet Arsenal, King Fuels, Cluett, Peabody & Co. and Temple Beth El before becoming a crossing guard in Sycaway for Troy Schools retiring in 2013.  

She enjoyed bowling at Alpha Lanes in North Troy, ceramics, the Red Hat Society, Curves, was the first woman treasurer of the Brunswick Little League and started the first girls Softball League and helped in laying out the softball field. She was a New York State Commissioner for Miss America Softball and was a Cub Scout Den Mother. She never missed one of her children’s games.    

Survivors in addition to her husband include three sons, Arthur S. (Constance) Blair, Troy, William C. (Janice) Blair, North Carolina and Wayne E. (Patricia) Blair, South Carolina; 6 grandchildren and 7 great grandchildren.  She was predeceased by two brothers, Carl and Ernest Carlson.
