Maiocco1926~2021Humbert L. (AL) Maiocco passed away at home on Sunday, February 7th , surrounded by his family. Al was preceded in death by his beloved wife of 65 years, Mary Ann (Stackeni). He is survived by his children, Rick (Christine) and Linda (Jay McEntee), his grandchildren, Albert, Bobby, Joey and Tommy Maiocco, and Jimmy (Samantha), Ricky, and Jill McEntee, as well as by many cousins, nieces and was born at home in Philadelphia, PA, to Vincenzo and Vincenzina (DeVito) on September 19, 1926. He was the youngest of their three children, and was preceded in death by his siblings Dom and Pat and their spouses Anne and Pauline.After serving in the Air Force in World War II, Al earned a degree in mechanical engineering, with honors, from the University of Pennsylvania. After graduation he was employed at Baldwin, Lima, Hamilton where he met Mary whom he married in 1954 at St Anthony’s Church in Chester, an inventor in the early plastics industry, Al holds a number of patents and also was a leading figure in the development of the injection molding industry. In 1966, he became the VP and General Manager for the Plastics Division of Beloit Corporation, with responsibility for plants in the USA, Spain, Italy and Denmark. In the early 1970s, he launched his own business, Batter-Lite Foods, a company focused in the retail grocery market and, through a series of acquisitions, he pioneered the Pritikin Foods line of healthy lifestyle food products. His efforts continue today with Spectrum Foods, a company he started in 2002 which is a leader in organic and non-genetically modified edible loved to cook, to ride bikes, to tell jokes and to have fun. He maintained lifelong relationships with a wide circle of friends and neighbors. His life was centered around his love for and devotion to his family. He especially cherished his role as Poppi to his grandchildren and shared with them the five “ations”, determination, concentration, motivation, dedication and education.
