Hughie Dixon, 89, of Ottawa died November 9, at the Illinois Veteran’s Home in LaSalle.
Dixon was born on May 31, 1925, in Knifley, KY, to Curtis and Nancy (Scott) Dixon. He was an Army Veteran of WWII, serving in the Philippines. He was employed at International Harvester in Louisville, KY, and retired from L.O.F. where he worked from 1954 to 1985. Hughie married Edna E. Campbell on September 22, 1947, in Knifley, KY. Hughie was a member of the First Baptist Church, and Glassworkers Local 19.
He is survived by his wife, Edna, 2 sons Larry (Juanita) Dixon, of Ottawa, and Timothy (Tracy) Dixon of Louisville, KY, 4 grandchildren, Rev. Jeremy Dixon, Sommer Churchill, Hunter Dixon, and Katy Altman, and 4 great-granchildren, Samuel and Abigail Churchill, Ayden and Isabella Altman. He was preceded in death by one brother and three sister. Pallbearers will be: Father Jeremy Dixon, Hunter Dixon, Mike Churchill, Ken Newtson, Terry Teausant, and Clarence Campbell, Jr.
