Hugh Leon Horner, 83, of Troy, Ill., born Feb. 20, 1932, in Madison County, Ind., passed away Friday, March 20, 2015, at his home surrounded by his loving family.
Hugh was a long time member Bethel Baptist Church, Troy, Ill. He proudly served in the United States Air Force serving in both the Korean and Vietnam Conflicts. He then flew commercial airliners and retired from Eastern Airlines. He was a former member of the Troy Lion’s Club.
Hugh loved his family and enjoyed the last years of his life living with his son and his family in Troy, Ill.
He was preceded in death by his wife, Carol Rae, nee Toussaint, Horner whom he married on Sept. 15, 1956, in East St. Louis, Ill., and who passed away Jan. 7, 2010; his parents, Hugh A. and Grace, nee Phagan, Horner; and a brother; Earl Horner;
Surviving are his son, David (Cheryl) Horner of Troy, Ill.; daughter, Debra (Michael) Laviolette Sr. of Wichita, Kan.; grandchildren, Kevin and Andy Horner, Josh Triay, Diane Lee, Rose and Michael Laviolette Jr.; great-grandchildren; brother, Rev. Jesse (June) Horner of Kokomo, Ind.; and sister, Mary Elizabeth “Liz” Yates of Elwood, Ind.; and many nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.
