Hugh Jones Gay, 92, of Canon City, CO passed away June 17, 2012 in Florence, CO. Hugh was born November 27, 1919 in Gage, OK to Benjamin and Kate (Randolph) Gay. Hugh served in the WWII, Company M, 20th Infantry in Borneo, Philippines, and South Korea. He was a Staff Sargent in charge of fourteen men and two heavy fifty caliber machine guns. Hugh was awarded the Philippine Liberation Metal/Ribbon with two bronze stars. He was married to Mary Hammoch; she preceded him in death. He retired after 22 years with the University of California where he worked as a machinist. Mr. Gay is survived by his children Rodney Gay, Ben Douglas Gay and Wayne Gay; four grandchildren; seven great grandchildren; one great-great grandchild. He was also preceded in death by his sister Margaret Wessman.
