Hugh Carnes Murphy, age 92 of Talladega, Alabama, formerly of Newnan and Atlanta, Georgia, died November 12, 2011. He was born in Stockbridge, Georgia and lived his early life in Morrow, Georgia.
He was a twice-wounded veteran of World War II. He worked many years for Beaudry Ford in Atlanta and retired from Sanitary Supply Co. While in Atlanta, he was an active member and deacon of Second Ponce de Leon Baptist Church. After moving to Newnan he was a deacon and treasurer of Macedonia Baptist Church. At the time of his death, he was a member of First Baptist Church, Talladega. Mr. Murphy was preceded in death by his wife of 63 years, Louodine Redwine Murphy.
He is survived by his son, Leigh Murphy and his wife, Georgeanna, of Talladega; grandson Michael Murphy and his wife, Holly, of Talladega; and great-granddaughter, Ashlie Murphy, of Talladega. He is also survived by his brother, Jim Murphy and his wife, Norma, of Garland, Texas.
