Mr. Hudon James Smith, 83, of Newnan, died Saturday September 8, 2012 at home surrounded by his family. He was preceded in death by his parents, a sister, his son-in-law Billy Pitts, his wife Carolyn Smith, and his long time companion Jewell Young. He was a Korean War Veteran, and served on the USS Roanoke from 1949 to 1952. He was retired from W.L. Bonnell Co., and as a driver from Mike Fitzpatrick Ford. He was the longest serving member of the Newnan Church of Christ and helped build the first building on Jackson St. He is survived by his daughters, Carol Riggs (Stan), Reba Mitchell (George Schweitzer), Debbie Chappell (David), Cathy Pitts; sister, Edith Moon; brother, Gene Smith; three grandchildren, two great-grandchildren, and one on the way.
