Hubert Henry Taylor-Godwin, 89, father, grandfather, brother and uncle, passed away May 1, 2013.

Bud was born June 12, 1923, in Windsor, Ontario, Canada to Hubert Colin and Bertha Taylor-Godwin, of Birmingham and Manchester, England. The family moved to Detroit in 1924 and again to southern California, where he spent the rest of his
life.

Bud left high school to join the merchant marine in 1939 and joined the U.S. Navy after the outbreak of World War II. He served in the Pacific and later served in the Korean War as well. He obtained his B.A. at the University of California Santa Barbara, where he met his beloved wife, Beverly. They married June 16, 1948 at All Saints by the Sea in Montecito, California, and were married for over 64 years when Beverly passed on December 1, 2012. Bud began his career as an English and mathematics teacher at Nordhoff School in Ojai. He obtained his master’s degree at the University of Southern California, and became a school psychologist in the Hueneme School District.

Bud loved to travel, enjoyed college sports and golf, collecting art and music. He was a master gardener and loved all the birds that came to his window. He was a great cook, one of the earlier followers of Julia Child and Jacques Pepin. But what he loved more than anything in this world was his wife, Beverly.

He is survived by his two daughters, Christina Taylor-Godwin and Elisa Taylor-Godwin; his grandchildren, Colin, Sean and Lauren; his brother, David; his sister, Lillian and many nieces and nephews.

Bud’s ashes will be spread over the Pacific Ocean by the U.S. Navy after a small ceremony.
