Hubert John Schumann, 71, of Russell, Iowa, died Tuesday, January 19, 2010, in the hometown of his daughter and son-in-law in Mount Ayr, Iowa.
He was born January 17, 1939 near Chariton, Iowa. He was the son of Albert Schumann and Hazel (Hull) Schumann. On June 18, 1961, he married Carolyn (McVey) Schumann. Together they had 3 children.
Hubert was the chef at the Des Moines Hyatt for 17 years, and then he moved to downtown Bankers Life to finally settle as the chef of the Hilton and Crystal Tree in Des Moines for 18 years. Upon retiring, he and his wife, moved to Russell, Iowa to enjoy family, fishing and hunting.
Hubert is preceded in death by his youngest son Timothy, his father and mother Albert and Hazel Schumann, a sister Jewell Schumann and a brother Gary Schumann.
He is survived by his wife Carolyn, a son James and his wife Avenell of Corydon, Iowa, a daughter Wanda and her husband Kraig of Mount Ayr, 9 grandchildren, 2 Brothers, 3 sisters, and many nieces and nephews.
