Hubert “Bud” Hayworth passed away Monday December 12, 2016 at Saint Andrews, River Landing in Colfax, NC after a long battle with Alzheimer’s disease. He is still smiling and in the presence of Jesus. Bud was born September 5, 1926 in High Point, NC. He graduated from High Point High School and was drafted to serve in WWII soon after. He served in the Army Air Corps and was on a transport ship to the pacific theater when the war ended. He served on Okinawa and later in Shanghai, China. On Veteran’s day November 11, 2011, he was honored to be on the last Flight of Honor sponsored by area Rotary Clubs. Bud graduated from Guilford College after his service. He met and married his wife, Ella, in High Point and later raised his family in Burlington, NC. He spent most of his working career as an accountant with Kayser-Roth Hosiery in Burlington and retired as the controller with A.J. Schnierson Hosiery in Siler City, NC.

Bud was an accountant by trade but always sought to learn new skills and acquired ability in woodworking, auto mechanics, bricklaying, construction and other hobbies. He loved golf, the Tarheels, and was an expert amateur billiards player. Bud loved the Lord and was faithful to his church. He always sought to help others, making crafts for vacation Bible school, serving as treasurer, and continued his desire to help others even as Alzheimers took his ability. Above all he was always looking to help his family and spent much of his time in retirement being the best Grandpa ever.

Bud was preceded in death by his mother and father, Maude and Hubert Hayworth, Sr, half-brothers Newlin and Bill Hayworth, half-sisters Miriam Hatley, Mildred Nunn, Kathryn Young and Frances Smith, and granddaughter Sylvia Hayworth. He is survived by his loving wife of almost 63 years Ella Hayworth, of River Landing, sister Betty Hall of Thomasville, son Hubert Hayworth III (Sandra) of Ft. Lupton, CO, son Tim Hayworth (Ginger) of Greensboro, NC, grandchildren Forrest, Kate and Jake Hayworth and many nieces and nephews.

The family would like to thank the management and staff at River Landing and especially the special care givers of the Saint Andrews memory unit.
