Hubert Doyle (Brownie) Brown, 90, passed away Tuesday, December 1st, 2015 at Country Charm Assisted Living in Greenwood, Indiana
Born July 9th, 1925, in Green County, Indiana, he was the son of Jay and Mertie (Noel) Brown.

Hubert was a graduate of Ellettsville High School in the class of 1943. After graduating from high school he joined the U.S. Military. He served in both the United States Army Air Corps (where he trained as a B17 Gunner Pilot) and later the U.S. Army where he worked in the Finance/Accounting Department. He was the former Superintendent of the Bloomington Water Company. In 1958, Hubert founded his own business, the H.D. Brown Excavating Company, where he worked until his retirement in 1990. He was a member of the United Methodist Faith and attended both Fairview and Arlington United Methodist Churches. He was also a member of American Legion Post 18.

Hubert moved from Ellettsville to Bloomington in 1949 where he resided until the passing of his wife, Fern Ellen (Lentz) Brown. He lived in Bloomington for 73 years and considered it his home. From 1961 to 2013 he resided in the Fritz Terrace neighborhood. In 2013 he moved to Greenwood to be near his daughter and son-in-law and resided there until the time of his passing following a lengthy struggle with diabetes.

Hubert is survived by his daughter, Marsha Brown Williams (Michael D.) of Indianapolis; his niece, Joy Anne Brown Stephens (Kenneth) of Bloomington; two great-nephews, Jay Brown (Debbie) and Kenney R. Stephens (Lori) of Ellettsville; three great-nieces, Julie Brown, of Ellettsville, Joni Brown, of Indianapolis, and Stephanie Hollis (John), of Ft. Branch, Indiana.

He was preceded in death by his parents; his wife of 63 years, Fern Ellen (Lentz) Brown (2012); his four brothers, Winfred Brown, Alois Brown, Reece Brown, Hollis Brown; and his nephew James Reece Brown.
