Hoyt Ray Ozbirn

Hoyt Ray Ozbirn passed away Saturday evening after an extended illness.  He was born in Adel, Georgia to Twilla Loudusta (Sanders) Ozbirn and Thomas Clyde Ozbirn, who preceded him in death.

He is survived by his wife of 59 years, Jeanette (Bass) Ozbirn and two children, David Ozbirn (Christine) of Laurel Hill, FL. and Donna (Bill) Koch of Navarre, FL. sisters, Marie Ozbirn Reid of Lawrenceville, GA. and Doris Ozbirn Keck of Fort Walton Beach, FL. sisters-in-law Jewel Ozbirn of Fort Watlon Beach, FL. and Lois Ozbirn of Houston, TX. Also surviving Hoyt are his wonderful grandchildren who brought him so much joy:  Connie Kirkland, Kelsea Koch, Fisher Koch, Christian Saylor, Michael Cooley, Zachery Coon, Byrson Kirkland and Chandler Host.

Hoyt is preceded in death by brothers James Ozbirn of Fort Walton Beach, FL. and Tom Ozbirn of Houston, TX. and sister, Lanis (Ozbirn) and Jim Price of San Jose, CA.

Hoyt moved to Niceville in 1956 from Warner Robbins, Georgia.  He operated Hoyt Ozbirn Paint Contractors and other businesses where he designed and built several apartment complexes in the Niceville and Fort Walton Beach area.   Hoyt also mentored many young men who later stared their own businesses.  

He enjoyed fishing, racing stock cars, having coffee with his friends at the Black Angus and Waffle House, where all important decisions were made.  

He was well loved by all who knew him and will be greatly missed.
