Howard Lewis Jr., 86, of Carlisle, Pennsylvania departed this life on September 5, 2018 in the UPMC Pinnacle Health, Carlisle. Howard was born in Carlisle, on July 7, 1932, and was the son of the late Howard and Venita Young-Lewis.
Howard was a 1950 graduate of Carlisle High School and a 1958 graduate of the Pennsylvania State University Park’s College of Science. A United States Navy veteran, Howard faithfully served his country with pride.
A devoted member of 80 years at the Historic Bethel A.M.E. Church in Carlisle, Pennsylvania, Howard dutifully served as Church School Superintendent and Church Treasurer for forty years. Howard truly loved God, his family, and his church.
Howard is survived by his beloved and devoted wife of 55 years, Mary Jackson Lewis of Carlisle; one daughter, Venita Ann Lewis of Boiling Springs; one son, Howard Wilson Lewis III of Ridgefield, Connecticut; one brother, Robert I. Lewis II of Granger, Indiana; one goddaughter, Latonia Goens Nelms of Carlisle; a host of other relatives, friends, and church family members.
