Howard “Ray” Chateauneuf, 54, of Middletown, passed away unexpectedly at his home on Monday, June 22nd. Born in Bridgeport, he was the son of the late Howard and Carol (Gorham) Chateauneuf. Ray lived in Middletown the past thirty years and was a professional roller skater who became a national champion skater and later became a teacher of skating. He spent the last twenty years working as a painter. He loved all sports especially following the Red Sox and was a member and longtime captain of the APA Pool League. Ray was a very kind person who always took time to stop and talk with anyone he ran into. Ray is survived by his beloved brother and best friend, Scott Chateauneuf and his wife, Claudette of Cromwell and their children, Sarah and Scott Keehner and April Chateauneuf; his great nephew, Elliott Scott Keehner; and two brothers, James Shatney and Robert Gorham and his daughter, Nicole, all of MT. Along with his parents, Ray was predeceased by his sister, Sherry Collier.
