Howard Richard Rosser

Walworth: Howard Rosser passed away peacefully on Thursday, February 23, 2017 at the age of 90.  Howard was born in Punxsutawney, PA to the late Howard David and Jean Chapman (Meanor) Rosser.  He was raised in the coal and timber region of West Virginia, and it was there that he met and married the love of his life, June Ann Collett of Parsons, WV.  He was preceded in death by June Ann, his wife of 67 years, and his brother Arthur Donald Rosser.  He is survived by his son Rick (Lisa), daughters Elaine (Jan) Bonten and Emily (Sam) Knight, grandchildren Graham, Derek, Veronica, Jo Ann, Rick, Lindsay, Sarah and Mikayla, and great-grandchildren Carmen, Benjamin, Eloise and Lenora.

Howard was a resident of Walworth, NY since 1969.  He lived previously in Cincinnati, OH and Limestone, NY while he worked as an electrical engineer for General Electric, Corning, Xerox and Griffin Technology.  He also lived temporarily in the Netherlands, Japan and England while on assignments for Xerox.  He served his country, enlisting in the U.S. Army after graduating from high school in 1944, and was stationed in the Philippines during WWII.  He was an active member of the First Presbyterian Church of Ontario Center and served as an elder and on many committees.

Howard was an avid outdoorsman, hunting and fishing and camping throughout his life. He was a dedicated vegetable gardener, and owned and operated a Christmas tree farm in West Virginia for many years.  He and June Ann were enthusiastic travelers, traveling extensively and often, both in the U.S. and internationally. 

Friends and family will be invited to a memorial celebration on Saturday (June 17) at 11 AM in First Presbyterian Church of Ontario, 1638 Ridge Rd., Ontario, NY.
