On Sunday, July 23, 2006, Howard Lawrence Ochs, Sr. passed on. Howard is survived by his lovely wife of 65 years, Doris M. Ochs; his loving children, Mellissa Anderson, Bernadine Smith, Darlene Conley and Howard L. Ochs, Jr.; his sisters, Theresa Brown and Mary Chaney; his brother, William Ochs; thirteen grandchildren; twenty-nine great-grandchildren and one great-great-grandchildren. Howard was preceeded in death by his son, Joseph Howard Ochs; and his brothers, Joseph, Charles, Francis, Vernon and George Ochs. Howard was a native of Maryland. He was born in Baltimore in 1920. He served in the U.S. Navy for a short while. He was then a deckhand for Curtis Bay Towing for 37 years. Howard was a member of the Church of the Crucifixion and the Lakeshore Democratic Club. He enjoyed many hobbies including playing bingo, taking photos and shopping.
