Howard Leroy Johnson Jr. was born on April 18, 1925 the first son to Anna and Howard Johnson of Baltimore and subsequently brother to Melvin and sister’s Joan and Deloris.
A lifelong resident of Maryland, Howard passed away peacefully on March 14, 2018 at age 92 after being hospitalized in early May. A lifelong resident of Maryland, Howard developed his work ethic early, leaving school at age 16 and working in the family business, a nearby bowling alley, a grocery store and other odd jobs before joining the Marine Corps in 1943.
Howard served in the Pacific Campaign on the islands of Tinian and Saipan and was always very proud of his service. Upon returning home in 1946, Howard married his sweetheart the late Rosalee Davis Johnson, daughter of Albin and Irene Davis of Baltimore. The union of Howard and Rosalee produced two sons; the late Rodney Johnson of Finksburg, Maryland and Robert Johnson of Glen Burnie, Maryland.
Howard is also survived by four grandsons, Robert, Matthew, Brian and Michael and great-grandchildren, Brenden, Aiden, Emma and Mason, as well as long-time companion Naomi Salley and sons Lee and Jim.
Howard had a long career in the property management business and was still serving as a consultant for the Maryland Management Corporation until his death.
A good father, husband and friend, he now joins his late wife and son in a better place. He will be missed.
