Howard Keith Covey, 90, peacefully passed away on September 27, 2021, in Peoria, Arizona. Howard was born in Fowler, Kansas, and grew up in Fowler and Montezuma.
In 1960 he moved his family to Phoenix and worked for Herb Stevens Lincoln Mercury as Business Manager. In 1973 he purchased the dealership which was relocated to 1330 East Camelback Road. He served two terms on the National Lincoln Mercury Dealer Committee in Detroit; seven years on Ford Motor Company Consumer Board; won two national awards for customer satisfaction, and serviced many customers as the largest Lincoln Mercury dealer in Arizona. He also served one term as president of Executives’ Association of Greater Phoenix of which he was a member for over 33 years. He was a member of the FBI Citizens Committee and served on the Board of Directors. For several years, he was a member of the Sun Devils Foundation. In 1991, he retired for his long desired worldly travels, turning over Covey Lincoln Mercury to his two sons.
His long desire for hunting and fishing led him to hunt and fish in Alaska, Spain, and four successful trips to Africa, later donating many of his trophies to BYU College Museum in Provo, Utah. He is survived by his three children, Ron (Charlotte), DeeAnne (Steve), and Jeff (Kat), along with 8 grandchildren; 3 great grandchildren, and many nieces and nephews. He is also survived by his brother, Fred, of Grand Junction, Colorado.
