Howard “Hank” Charles Farrell, 68, of Harrisburg, went peacefully to his Heavenly home in the arms of Jesus on Monday, February 20, 2023, at home with family by his side.
Hank was born April 7, 1954, in Philadelphia, PA, to the late Howard M. Farrell and the late Marie Gallagher Farrell. He was also preceded in death by his brother, Michael Farrell.
Hank was a proud soldier and retired veteran of the United States Army. He wrote the blank check on his life, dedicating his life to serving our country. During his military career, Hank was the head chef, working directly for the Secretary of the Army at the Pentagon. He was also awarded medals for ice carvings, baking cakes and specialty dishes. His career took his family to Alaska, California (running the NCO officer’s club), Paris, Germany, Aberdeen Prooving Ground of Maryland, Pentagon, Washington D.C. After retirement, Hank ran the kitchen at the Salisbury VA Hospital. He was a member of the American Legion 523 in Harrisburg and past member of the American Legion 262 in Charlotte. Hank was also a member of the 40&8 Club of Charlotte and a member of Word of Faith Worship Center in Concord. Hank will be remembered as a magnificent, patriotic, and Godly man. He was a go-getter and loved working in the yard. Most of all, Hank was a loving husband and dad. He will be forever loved and greatly missed.
Survivors include beloved wife of 47 years, Helen F. Farrell of the home; daughter, Angel Marie (Allan) Paulsen of the home; father-in-law, Skip Hunt of Cramerton, NC; sister-in-law, Jeanette (Stan) Francis of Coperville, TX; brother-in-law, Michael Marlow of Coperville TX; “brother,” Danny (Vickie) Mallett of Hampton, GA; 3 brothers; 3 sisters; and several nieces and nephews.
