Mr. Howard Greer Langford, was born April 12, 1954 in Morgan County (AL) to the late Paul and Evelyn Robinson Langford.  He departed this life and gained his wings at his residence on February 19, 2022 in Decatur, Alabama.

Howard accepted Christ at an early age and was a member of Decatur Christian Fellowship Church.   Howard was a student at Lakeside High School where he excelled as a member of the track team.  He was affectionately called the “Black Panther or Cheetah” in recognition of his above-average speed.

Howard first earned his money working for his father which later led to a maintenance job at A.M.E. (later named Stonegate) Apartments.  Howard, during his tenure at A.M.E., was credited with saving a child from a burning building.  His story was proudly featured in the Decatur Daily.  Howard later worked at the Goodyear plant for many years.  Howard, as a young man, was a sharp dresser. He drew attention to himself by catalog ordering and wearing “Superfly” styled clothing and well-maintained Afro.  Howard was a kindhearted man who loved his family. He was well known and “never meeting a stranger.” Howard was artistic and had beautiful penmanship as well.

Howard was preceded in death by his parents, two brothers Edward Leon (Leo) Langford and Leonard Langford.
