Largo, Florida-Howard E. Hoagland, 91, passed away Tuesday afternoon, November 20, 2013 from injuries sustained in a traffic accident. He was born on April 27, 1922, in Jay County near Redkey, the son of Elsworth and Roxie Jane (Peterson) Hoagland. Mr. Hoagland is a 1939 graduate of the former Grey High School which was located near Redkey and Dunkirk.
Howard married Betty L. (Stoner) Hoagland in 1940 and she preceded him in death 2002 and they lived in the Muncie area for many years. Mr. Hoagland had worked as a Plant Manager for the Broderick Corporation in Kenton, Ohio. He had served them for 42 years prior to his retirement in 1984. Howard wintered in Florida and later met his companion Barbara Oden from Galveston, Indiana and eventually would move there. Mr.
Survivors include one son, David Hoagland (wife-Sandi), Muncie; one daughter, Jennifer Bush, Anderson; six grandchildren; twelve great grandchildren; two great, great grandchildren; his companion, Barbara Oden, Galveston.
Besides his wife of 62 years, Betty, he is preceded in death by his daughter, Pam Hoagland in 2005; one grandson, Scotty Ray in 1997; his parents; four brothers and three sisters.
