Howard E. Klett, Jr., 81, of Elkhart, died Sunday March 14, 2021 at Elkhart General Hospital. He was born in Detroit on September 16, 1939, the son of (the late) Howard E. and Lulu (Bish) Klett. Howard proudly served his country in the US Air Force during the Vietnam Conflict and was stationed in Guam. On February 16, 1963, Howard married Patricia (Carlson) Klett in Redford MI; she preceded him in death on June 4, 2006 after 43 years of marriage. Howard was self-employed, providing escort services to the trucking industry moving oversized and wide loads.

He relocated his business to Elkhart in 1991, from Kalkaska Michigan. Howard was raised in the Episcopal church and was a member of the Masonic Lodge and the Veterans of Foreign Wars; he served as a Scout Leader for many years while his sons were growing up. He enjoyed taking his sons on hunting & camping trips, as well as sharing his enthusiasm for cars & motorcycles with family & friends.

In addition to parents and his wife Pat, Howard was also preceded in death by his son, Cory in 2020. He is survived by sons, Howard E. “Eddie” Klett III of Elizabeth City NC, Donald Klett of Howell MI, Lowell (Penny) Klett of Middlebury and Shannon Klett of Goshen; his grandchildren, Kenny Klett, stationed in Jordan with the US Air Force, Katrina Klett in New Jersey, Deajay Klett in Arkansas, Savannah and Makayla Klett, both of Howell MI, Chelsea Klett, currently studying in Munich, Germany, Kaitlyn Musselman of Kalkaska MI, Brandy Slabach & Angel Butler, both of Goshen, and eight great-grandchildren.
