Howard David Smith,Sr., 90, of Terre Haute, passed away Sunday April 29, 2012 in Union Hospital. Howard was born September 5, 1921 in Terre Haute to Ira Smith and Cecil Marie Gardner Smith. He was a mechanic most of his life, as well as being a United States Army Veteran. Howard enjoyed racing, especially quarter-midgets. He enjoyed working with his hands around the house, especially tinkering with things when they needed fixed. He most of all loved his family, especially anytime there was a baby around. He was a member of the VFW post 972 in earlier years.
