Howard D. “Bud” Hammond, 87, of Rensselaer, IN passed away on August 18, 2021, in Rensselaer. Bud was born in Fair Oaks, IN on November 24, 1933, the son of Merle and Minnie (Stowers) Hammond. Bud attended Fair Oaks Schools. He married the love of his life, Mary Ruth Reinhold, on September 19, 1953, in Rensselaer, IN, and she survives. They settled in the Rensselaer area where Bud was a Mechanic/Service Manager for Pat Clark, then Brooks Motor Sales, and then Heuring Ford until his retirement in 1996. Prior to that, he was a Mechanic with the State Highway Department. Bud was a member of the Parr Baptist Church and the Rensselaer Masonic Prairie Lodge #125 F&AM. He enjoyed time outdoors, fishing, and hunting. He loved spending time with his family, especially playing with the kids.
He will be deeply missed Bud is survived by his wife of 67 years, Mary; children Jerry Hammond of Guntersville, AL, Rick (Barb) Hammond of Rensselaer, IN, Ron (Karen) Hammond of Murfreesboro, TN, and Julia (Mike) Carter of Indianapolis, IN; 9 grandchildren, 17 great-grandchildren, and 5 great-great-grandchildren; sibling, Arlene Coley of Rensselaer, IN.
Bud was preceded in death by his parents, four sisters, one brother, and a daughter-in-law, Beth.
