Howard C. Moe, age 94 of Midland, passed away on Friday April 13, 2018 at Brookdale Assisted Living in Midland. The son of the late Claude O. and Hala B. (Wolfley) Moe was born in Midland on March 11, 1924 where he was raised educated and a graduate of Midland High School. Howard enlisted in the United States Army where he served during World War II and was assigned to the 536th Armored Infantry.
He was employed at Dow Corning until his retirement in 1984 after 38 years of service. Howard was a member of Memorial Presbyterian Church, a member of Centre Lodge #273 of the Free and Accepted Masons, Midland Shrine Club where he was very involved with driving children to the Shrine Hospitals, Order of the Eastern Star, Midland V.F.W. Post 3651, American Legion Berryhill Post 165, and was a former Midland County Special Sheriff Deputy. On June 18, 1942 in Midland, Howard married the former, Vera M. Hitsman, and after 63 years of marriage she passed away on October 29, 2005.
Surviving is his son, Jerry (Janice) Moe of Arizona; daughter, Sandra (Mike) Assels of Freeland; grandchildren, Lisa Stanick, Scott Baine, Heather Moe, Ty Seeburger, Chris Assels; great grandchildren, Drew & Lucy Stanick, Britney Stanick, Jessica & Travis O’Keefe, Kendra Skalnican fiancé Richard Jayo, Noah Seeburger, Haley Baine and fiancé, Austin Miller, Alston Baine and fiancé, Abby Mahaffy; great great grandchildren, Adelynn Stanick, Kinsley, Caileigh, Katelyn, Braelynn, Colton Stihl; and a baby girl expected soon; brother, Roy (Carol) Moe; many nieces and nephews. In addition to his parents and wife, Howard was preceded in death by a granddaughter, Sherry Seeburger; sister, Louise (Kerns) Shaffer and his dear friend and companion, Joan Thurston.
