Howard Charles Brink, Jr. 70, of Centralia, passed away Monday, January 21, 2019, at SSM Health St. Mary’s Hospital surrounded by his loving family. Howard was born on September 1, 1948 to Howard and Virginia Brink. He graduated from Centralia High School in 1966. He was a starting offensive lineman of the 1965 South Seven Championship football team. He later attended Southern Illinois University Edwardsville.

He was an avid reader and the smartest man his kids have ever known. Howard worked at General Tire for over 30 years and used his factory experience to encourage his kids to go to college so they wouldn’t have to do the same. Other than his kids, golf was the love of his life. He started playing at Colonial Golf Club and later was a member at Greenview. His love of golf took him to the Master’s tournament and a Ryder Cup. Nothing drove Howard crazier than missing a three foot put or poor folks who vote Republican. He couldn’t understand either. Howard was a lifelong member of St. Mary’s Catholic Church Howard is survived by his three children. Brian Howard, wife Jessica, Julie Semith, husband Joe, and Jennifer, wife Brooke.

Seven grandchildren, Beckham and Blythe Brink, Noah, Mia, and Grant Semith, along with Jackson, and Oliver Brink. A brother, Stephen Brink and his loving sister Beth Ann (Brink) Mahkovtz. Many cousins and a special friend and traveling companion, Paula Routt.
